Your Breakup Stories

Thanks BreakUpChicken! My boyfriend was a total slug – all he did was play video games all day. I am so glad to be rid of him. I used your advice on how to break the news. Now I am happy again!

Ask the Chicken

Dear Chicken,
Over the summer I met a really nice guy while on a family trip back East. The problem is that I already have a boyfriend. Two questions – how hard are long distance relationships? If I decide to not date someone long distance, should I date someone local (my current boyfriend) who is not anywhere as great as the guy who lives far away?
“Distant Love vs Local Blah”

Dear DLvsLB,
I am going to make my answers to each question short and sweet.

Question #1 – long distance? As a general rule, they don’t work out so well. You have to ask yourself questions like… how often will I really see him? Is a girlfriend / boyfriend relationship better than keeping in touch and remaining friends? What about our relationship makes me think that distance will not be too much to over come? If you have great answers to these questions and still want to have a long-distance relationship, more power to you.

Questions #2 – date someone local? There is a quote out there that says “you date who you marry.” While you may not have marriage on your mind, the following quote totally applies “you hang out with those you date.” Your current boyfriend is not your only option for dating someone local.

Sincerely,
The Chicken
